Growth of over 50 percent since 2004

Bülach is also the capital of the district of the same name and provides various services for the region. With a population of around 25,000, the capital has grown considerably: in 2004, the population was 14,200, which means that the number of inhabitants has risen by over 50 percent in just a few years. Bülach is one of the ten largest towns in the canton of Zurich.

Bülach Hospital, one of the largest employers in the Zurich Unterland region, offers 1,200 employees a secure job and trains around 140 apprentices. The air distance to Zurich is 16 kilometers. Zurich main station can be reached by public transport in 17 minutes; the airport in 18 minutes.

A further increase in population is associated with the realization of Bülach Nord on the sites of the former "Glashütte Bülach" (formerly Vetropack) and Bülachguss, where a total of 2,000 more residents will be accommodated.

Im Guss (construction period from 2016 to 2019) is a mixed-use quarter with around 420 rental apartments and 70 owner-occupied apartments as well as office and commercial space. Site area: 55,300 m²; costs: around CHF 300 million (client: Allreal).

Glasi-Bülach (2019 to 2023): On the site of the former glassworks in Bülach-Nord, the Glasi-Quartier is a lively urban quarter with squares, alleyways and streets. 560 apartments and over 20,000 square meters of commercial space including offices, stores and a hotel (Niu). Site area: 42,000 square meters. Investment volume: around CHF 400 million. Project partners: Baugenossenschaft Glattal Zürich, Logis Suisse AG, Steiner AG, Steiner Investment Foundation. The Digital Health Center (dhc) will move in here in 2024.
